Brickbury Herald 29th July 2002 Early Edition Brickbury citizens were again partying last night at the opening of the first public park in the town. The park located next to the Bedson Building, on the corner of Fourth Street has prooved to be contraversial however. One citizen even exclaimed when they said park I expected manicured lawns and benches, not this, this thing. When questioned further however they admitted no I like it I really do, it is just not what I expected. The park, designed by local chemistry student Ashleigh Fletcher, combines a gentle trickeling water feature with local wild flowers grown from seed on the bedroom windowsill by keen gardener Mary Carson. Ashleigh said that the idea for the park came to her whilst visiting a small moutain village in the Swiss Alps, she also said that she was disappointed that plans for numerous alpine cows had been vetoed. The council claims this was over concerns that the cows may walk out onto the road. Plans for a more traditional park, to appease unsatisfied citizens, are currently languishing in the planning department, the council will meet to discuss zoning plans early next week. |
