Marital Status: single
Children: 0
Occupation: software developer (ObPlug: www.highwire.org)
On R.T.L (A.T.L) Since: early May '99

# of Sets in LEGO Collection: now (counting on fingers), 12. before 1989,
nearly all of Classic Space, a few Technic sets, yellow
castle and knight joust, and lots and lots of "plain" sets (are they
  called freestyle now?).

# of Unopened Sets in Collection: 0

# of LEGO Pieces: mebbe around 2,000?

# of LEGOfests Attended: 0

# of LEGO Theme Parks Visited: 0

First LEGO Set: One of the Universal/Basic Building sets, which one I don't
know.

LEGO Dark Age: 1989-94,94-99

First LEGO set after the Dark Age: '94, bought a single Blacktron 2 set;
'99, 7130 and 7110. I've since gone nuts and gotten all of the episode 4-6
sets (in multiples even, gotta have more parts!) and some of the episode 1
sets. I'm eyeing Mindstorms now, but am unsure what I'd do with it and
don't relish having to use Windoze. When's the Linux port? ;)

Favorite Theme(s): Classic space, knights (although I personally didn't own
much of the "new" gray stuff), Technic. Really wish I'd kept up with Lego
as about the time I was getting tired of the increasingly specialized parts,
they came out with the pirate themes, which I woulda loved. Oh well.

Favorite Set(s): 7140 X-Wing and 7150 Tie/Y-Wing. I dreamed that this
would happen as a kid. Only took nearly 20 years to come to fruition :)

Favorite Piece(s)/Minifigure(s): I really liked the blue and black space
classic minifigs when they first debuted. I liked finding sets that had new
colored, transparent plastic pieces.

Set/theme you would like to see: Some Technic sets that don't look like
they suck fetid dingo kidneys (what's with all these weird, useless looking
parts in sets these days? I thought it was getting bad when I stopped
buying 'em in '89). Millenium falcon, no matter the price.

Current LEGO Project: Getting my "building legs" back.

Greatest Claim to LEGO Fame: Just another Lego junkie (JALJ), really. No
fame.

Other (Non-LEGO) Interests: Bicycle riding, programming, music, video
games, other toys, enjoying life.

Organization: Telstra Big Pond Cable - Sydney Site 1

Rec.Toys.Lego Roll Call/ De-lurking Form (Version 3.2)

Name:
  Paul Baulch

Gender:
  Male

Year of Birth:
  1971

Mental Age/Status of Inner Child:
Hmm, that's a tough one. I'm a lot more mature than most people I know,
and they don't play with Lego... let's say my Creative Leisure age is about
11.

Location:
  Melbourne, Australia

E-mail Address:
 paul@vic.bigpond.net.au

LEGO/home page URL(s):
Still talking to Telstra BigPond about that one.

Marital Status:
Single - anyone here want to move to Australia and marry me? The weathers
fantastic down here at the moment.... ;)

Children:
Yeah, mine are gonna love my Lego. They'd better, I didn't buy this stuff
just for me. Well, not quite ;)

Occupation:
Computer games programmer (Ever played "Krush, Kill N Destroy"? Or the
sequel?)

On R.T.L (A.T.L) Since:
The Wednesday before this roll call.

# of Sets in LEGO Collection:
Maybe thirty or fourty, it more than doubled since I gained an income.

# of Unopened Sets in Collection:
Whaaaaat?!?!? Like, zero! What's it made for! What an unpleasantly
repressive concept, not opening your Lego!... eeeugh. ;)

# of LEGO Pieces:
Probably no more than eight kilograms' worth, but it doubled since I
gained an income. Help me! I have too much money! Somebody sell me a #928
for a stupidly high sum!!!! Or marry me ;)

# of LEGOfests Attended:
What, here in Australia ?!? If only Lego were an official sporting event
:(

# of LEGO Theme Parks Visited:
Zero, but I've been to all of the Lego World Shows that toured here in
Melbourne.

First LEGO Set:
Either 357 (Fire Station) or 382 (Tow truck and car) Probably still have
all the pieces but that's all.... any takers? ;)

LEGO Dark Age:
The start of my Biochmistry course at University, although Lego was really
just replaced by molecular models, which are sort of a chemistry Lego. Then
it was computer games, now its Lego and computer games.

First LEGO set after the Dark Age:
#6897 (Space Police) - It was love at first sight (See below)

Favorite Theme(s):
Space, Space, Space, Space, Space and Space. When I get sick of Space
though, I tend to play around with... Space ;)
Hmmm, I liked Castle a bit when I was younger, because my sisters kind of
got into Castle a bit more easily than Space. I've got one #6080 and two
#6073's worth of Castle minifigs and wall pieces in excellent condition
which I could theoretically be convinced to part with....

Favorite Set(s):
Probably #6897 - The epitome of beautiful form, elegant function,
holiday-portable size, topped off with a good guy AND a bad guy in the one
set! Play VALUE!!!!! I tells ya if this set had been around when I was ten,
I'm sure my body would have stopped growing :)

Favorite Piece(s)/Minifigure(s):
Without doubt it is any ramp/slope piece. Normal or inverted, shallow or
steep, slopey bits rule! Anyone with several thousand slopey bits after some
Castle bits?

Set/theme you would like to see:
A more elegant hybrid of Technic and minifigs. Giant unfurling spaceships
with ten different Technic abilities in one. More glamour than a straight
Technic set and more mechanical functionality than your typical minifig set.
Can be done, and IMO should be done.

Current LEGO Project:
Imperial AT-AT walker (currently about 25" long sorry no pics yet!) I think
I need to buy a couple more Sith Infiltrators as I've run out of grey plates
and I haven't done the legs yet! D'OH!!!! Must finish it though, as it's
looking very much like the, er, "real" thing. I was thinking of making a
Technic "cycloid" walking mechanism but haven't had any good ideas yet....
anyone else looked into this?

A secondary minor project is adaptation of a 4WD 4W-steering 4W-susp chassis
for radio control (sure, not very original), the main aim being to cut the
weight of pieces down to a bare minimum while still being quite sturdy - a
satisfying challenge. Obviously this is mainly using the #8880 Super Car
components.

Greatest Claim to LEGO Fame:

Heh. Not much. A few years ago I posted a design to RTL and also to a very
early Lego (NOT Web)site (this is before the Web, boys and girls).
It was a (quite large) blue-grey-t'yellow (Classic space scheme?) ship
called the "Shiva 1" and the email in the image was
"shnub@zikzak.apana.org.au" (NOT a valid email!!!!) which was my old email
address. I still have the pics of this and a few other lego creations and if
Telstra BigPond allows me a site then I'll certainly put them on the Web for
all to see.

Other (Non-LEGO) Interests:

Computers, astronomy, molecular biology, name something incredibly geeky
and I'm interested. Oh, except miniatures.
Play my computer games, please!!! :)

Favorite Theme(s): Blacktron I, Star Wars

Set/theme you would like to see: tons of SW stuff, but I imagine everything I

money to build a minifig scale DS, which would be about 2 miles in diameter!)
