From: slink@netins.net (slink) Date: Tue, 26 Jan 1999 00:21:24 GMT Organization: netINS, Inc. Name: Sandra Linkletter Gender: female Year of Birth: 1953 Mental Age/Status of Inner Child: ageless/just humming along, thank you kindly :) Location: Iowa, USA E-mail Address: slink@netins.net LEGO/home page URL(s): http://www.netin.net/showcase/slink/index.htm Marital Status: married Children: two dogs and two cats Occupation: Technical Consultant (self-employed) On R.T.L (A.T.L) Since: Nov 1998 # of Sets in LEGO Collection: about 100 # of Unopened Sets in Collection: 1 (a Technic Giant Model set bought on sale) # of LEGO Pieces: about 53,000 # of LEGOfests Attended: none # of LEGO Theme Parks Visited: none First LEGO Set: tiny set bought from Sears Roebuck & Co in mid 60's LEGO Dark Age: from about age 14 to Nov 1998. First LEGO set after the Dark Age: Mindstorms Favorite Theme(s): Outback, Diver, and Res-Q for the quality of their vehicles. Ninja and Bat Lord for the romance, and also the horses and dragons. Playing with Technic is like rebuilding bicycles (an ex-hobby of mine) but with no grease under your fingernails. :) Favorite Set(s): I have 4 Flying Ninja Fortresses, that one gave me a thrill every time I opened one and started taking out the pieces. I have 3 Mindstorms and 3 Giant Model sets, those two have so many neat mechanical parts in them not to mention three robot brains. Favorite Piece(s)/Minifigure(s): universal joint, rack and pinion steering parts, dragons, orange dragon wings, flames, low slope roof bricks in non-red colors, women with cleavages, men who don't look like they are on meth - I particularly like the Spaceport rocket scientist (I like all the geeky ones but him best) and the amiable one with the scruffy red beard and mustache who shows up in some other sets. Set/theme you would like to see: less action toys (CyberSlam and Throw-Up-Bots <error intentional>), less toys for 4-year-olds in sets marked 7-12, something other than race cars in Technic. Actually, if you look over the years the themes/sets have just been retreads of one another. I could live with that if the trend towards simplification was reversed. Vehicles with working doors and hinged roofs are neat. More availability of new colors of bricks (tan and brown, for instance). My only wish for something completely new is for some scenery components, like mountain building blocks. Right now building a mountain-side from BUMPs means bidding for parts stripped from other sets and they are very expensive in quantities useful for real landscaping. I expect the Train enthusiasts would like that, too. Imagine Duplo or Primo sized bricks in gray, tan and brown with the ability to attach normal Lego to the surface, all for a reasonable price of course. Failing that, gray and green in reasonable quantities for a reasonable price, ie by the hundreds rather than 62 at a time. Current LEGO Project: Slink's Plastic Universe, see website. It's the illustrated history of an entire planet, which I fear won't fit in my house but I'm going to try my best. The robotic project is on the back-burner and it will stay that way until I get this out of my system, or at least until I get all my ordered supplies in-house and am unable to build anything more for lack of room. Greatest Claim to LEGO Fame: Either fastest growth of set collection or happiest male minifig population, depending upon whom you ask. Other (Non-LEGO) Interests: computers for work, computers for play, eating, sleeping, rolling in the hay, admiring the sunset, drinking good California red wine or good single highland malt whiskey, listening to music, taking long hot baths, contemplating the universe (not all of these can be combined but many can) -- Sandra -> http://www.netins.net/showcase/slink/ GEEK CODE Version 3.12: GS>AT !d(++)@ s:+ a+ C+++($) !U(C/H$) P(+)@ L E?
