Marital status: Single, but spoken for
Children: None as of yet
Occupation: Student, factory laborer over summer (Ack!)
# of sets in LEGO collection: 40-60
# of LEGO pieces: Enough to fill two standard-size paper boxes
First LEGO set: Not sure, but it may be an Exxon gas station,
                                circa 1980
Favorite theme(s): None, really; I buy for parts
Favorite set(s): Black Falcon's Fortress, the pinnacle of
                                affordable housing for lesser nobles
Current project: Making the Rotor Air Service WWW pages
(bios of characters, pictures of vehicles,
price scale for services offered, etc.)
Greatest claim to LEGO fame: Co-creating the Rotor Air Service--the rowdiest
                                no-job-too-illegal Lego mercenary company
                                around

The RAS was created about six or seven years ago by myself and an uncle of
mine. He started me on building helicopters for various unsavory Lego
characters, and from there it took on a life of its own. The company has
existed in many different forms over the years, with only its setting
(an undisclosed island in the Caribbean) and a few central characters
remaining constant. The members of the RAS range from a bo-wielding chief
tech/bartender ("Mr. Clean and his staff will be pleased to serve you.")
to a financial consultant who was kicked off of Wall Street for making
investment choices that were a bit...too good. All in all, the RAS has
been the single best interactive storytelling device I've ever encountered.

Which brings up a question: Does anyone else use Lego people to role-play?
If so, how? My uncle and I worked well together, as both of us controlled
characters on both sides of the conflicts that had a way of happening. We
were both committed to realism, so logic usually prevailed over "I shot you
first" arguments. Alas, he moved out a few years ago, so I've just been
maintaining the Service and having it ready to play with for when he visits.

For those of you interested in getting an idea of what a RAS member looks
like, here's the standard uniform: white pants with black belt, pirate-theme
imperial torso with blue sleeves, black gloves, unique face, and head
covering of choice. Of course, seeing as it IS a mercenary company,
deviations from standard uniform are more common than strict adherence to it.

Enough of my fantasy world. This post is in response to the six hours of
smiling that stumbling upon this 'froup has caused. Even though you're all
just selfishly pursuing your own love of a deceptively simple plastic toy,
thank you anyway.

Mark

PS- I had no idea a "Forest Wench" was so rare. After hearing mention of her
in a few unrelated posts, I realized that I had purchased the Foresters'
River Crossing completely by accident a number of years ago. I went into my
people box, and sure enough, there she was. The upshot of all this is that
one, she and I have been reading posts together on rtl for the last two
hours, and two, no, I will NOT trade her. Play well. :)

Organization: Netcom

Name: Elaine
Gender: F
Age: 22
Mental age/status of inner child: Hard one to answer; my inner child
prefers toys and books meant for the ages of 4 through 8, but my
mental age is a different thing entirely.
Location: St. Pete, Florida
E-mail address: closr@ix.netcom.com
Marital status: single
Children: should be heard and seen. No, I don't have any.
Occupation: Desktop Publishing Professional (whatever.)
# of sets in LEGO collection: ten or so
# of LEGO pieces: a thousand, I suppose, averaging 100 per set?
First LEGO set: a Universal Building Set. I had it up until a couple of
years ago when my heartless parents gave it to Goodwill.
Favorite theme(s): Castle and Pirates
Favorite set(s): That I have, Dark Dragon's Den. In the world, all of them.
Current project: Eating a chicken sandwich
Greatest claim to LEGO fame: I have an early Space guy (all white, red
hands, planet on chest) who enters all my other temporally displaced
models, rather Quantum-Leap-ily. He's quite well-known throughout my
dining room.
Other (non-LEGO) interests: I answered this already, and I almost
started a Mac vs. IBM war, so I'm not going to do it again!

age: 22

marital status: Single
children: maybe never
occupation: recent college gradaute. (i.e. unemployed)

# sets in LEGO collection: ~30-40
# pieces: rough estimate at ~2000 (?)
first set: The claw-backed space vehicle, piloted by a Red space
figure (this is 6822 in Europe)

favorite theme: Space! ^_^
favorite set: The Galaxy Explorer and Galaxy Commander, neither of
which I ever owned, so they became holy grails to me. Space Supply
Station and Cosmic Fleet Voyager, of the sets I own.

current project: Cleaning up those long-unused things and making
repairs to broken pieces after a recent visit by young cousins.
("hurricane Corey and Theodore") Making tearful decision about
whether to sell these beloved old bricks.

greatest claim to fame: Having the most "advanced" weapon craft
designs and best color-coordination in the lego wars of junior high
school, with hard points, reactive armor and ability to be quickly
modified into multiple configurations (depending on the mission) by
changing removable parts stored at the bases. The rugged "Turtle"
series was our side's battle saint of the ground war, with the "Dragon
Turtle" the most feared ground vehicle around. Air and Space duties
were handled by the armored all-purpose "Starlite" interceptor series
(my personal favorite ones ever..don't you wish you were smart enough
to take pictures of long lost designs? ;_;).

But we lost the war because there weren't enough "good" pieces left to
make decent secondary vehicles to support the prima donnas. ^_^

other interests: video games, drawing, reading, movies

Well, that's it! Also, is there anywhere I can get spare castle parts(i,e.
balconies, walls, corners...)? I have a really cool castle (Inhabited by
Crusaders and led by the RK King), but it's mostly in Basic white bricks!
Whaaa!!! :(

That's it! :)
