Favorite LEGO toys/themes: Aquanauts, UFO, Exploriens, Instectoids
My fascination with LEGO began... Age 13 or so, and continued throughout life. My own LEGO went through a long period of use as accessories in my miniature wargaming (15mm figures). Now I have two kids who are starting to use "little LEGOs" (the real LEGO vice DUPLO!) and they love the space and water stuff.
I once built... Replica of a Crusader castle in Israel (Krak des Chevaliers) for a wargame. Castle was huge....
LEGO is great because... (1) It stimulates my kids' imaginations and can out-compete TV for their attention...which is good, because we don't let 'em use TV!
(2) The company really seems to be able to combine caring about kids' development with a sound profit motive.
LEGO fans are great because... Who knows? I just found out about the fan network when I went on EBay to buy no-longer available kits for the kids...and found 5000 LEGO for sale any given day!
My favorite Non-LEGO Toys: Toy soldiers
My favorite Hobbies & Interests: Wargaming, wilderness camping, fiction writing, skydiving, SCUBA, fencing, martial arts, SF.
My favorite Foods: Extremely good cook. Lived 29 countries. They ALL have GREAT food!
My favorite Movies & TV: Art movies -- "Dangerous Beauty" (which my 4-year old loved).
My favorite Artists: Michaelangelo; Frank Herbert; Robert Heinlein; Beethoven
My favorite Music: There are great pieces in all genres. I tend to like classical most.
My favorite Pets & Animals: Cats. Cat-like dogs (Akitas and Siberians).
Words which best describe me: Type A (Driver-Driver) who looks 10 years younger than his age because he never worries!
I love it when... My wife and kids finally come home. I get home first and cook, but after dinner, my wife cleans up and all us boys get to play with the LEGOs!
I hate it when... People lack integrity.
I can't seem to get enough... Ummm....not fit for a family site.
I always seem to have enough... Love and good times.
I hope I always... Have my family.
I wish I could... Have enough money to own all my own time! Don't really need any more "stuff" (except LEGO and wargames, of course)...just time.
I could never... I long ago concluded cynically that everyone is capable of any act, given the right circumstances.
I hope I never... Personally demonstrate my conclusion in "I could never..." is true!
I wish I hadn't... None of your bloody business!
In my craziest moments... You don't want to know. It would undermine your confidence in your military. Anyway, it was all before I joined.
Believe it or not... You wouldn't.
If I were super-human... Who needs it -- except perhaps with respect to living forever. There is no end of neat stuff to learn.
More & Less: - more Time -- working is fun, but so is just learning., less Complication.
- more Travel., less Trivia.
- more LEGOs and toy soldiers, and people to enjoy them with., less Attempts by others to restrict my freedoms.
Rules I try to live by: - Know what you believe.
- Practice what you believe.
- Judge others by their actions, where you have the time to do so.
Additional comments:
We're complicated creatures by evolution and social teaching, but uncomplicated creatures in primal motivation. Food-Sex-Work. Those are the basic motivator/pleasures. From those come everything from great, lifelong romances to the magnificent buldings and bridges we have created.
From their denial or perversion come hatreds, jealosies, pettiness, wars and depravity.
So eat well, find love, do what you enjoy.
And play with LEGOs.
