Favorite LEGO toys/themes: When asked this question the first time, I dutifully listed the themes of my childhood: Town, Castle, and Space. As an adult LEGO fan, I've decided that my favorite "theme" is Non-Orthogonality. I get a real kick out of taking a bunch of boxes, and building something that is decidedly not boxy.
My fascination with LEGO began... In 1976, at the age of eight. At the end of junior high school, I put Lego aside -- but the birth of my son Spencer brought the bricks back to stay!
I once built... A 56-stud x 36-stud black and yellow space vessel, with a crew of six and a detachable shuttlecraft. This was in 1981, years before Blacktron. (The photographs I took are too fuzzy to share!)
Someday I will build... A proper octagonal building. What's keeping me from doing it right now? A lack of 2 X 2 / 1 X 4 hinge bricks.
LEGO fans are great because... They're smart, creative, and perhaps because they're connected by play, they're also quite trustworthy.
My favorite Non-LEGO Toys: Musical instruments, model rockets, computers, RPG's, and gardening tools.
My favorite Hobbies & Interests: My main interest is my family. Hobbies? Mostly on hold, see "Non-LEGO Toys" for hints...
My favorite Foods: Anything with spice and zest -- death to bland! Bring on the garlic and chili!
My favorite Movies & TV: I am one of the few Americans who watches ZERO TV. Lately, Internet time has made up for it...
My favorite Artists: Monet, Dali, Kandinsky, Roger Dean
My favorite Music: Classical (Bach, Stravinsky, but not Mozart), Jazz (post-bop), prog-rock.
My favorite Pets & Animals: Erica (Balinese cat, born 1981!), Cleo (Mini Dachsund, born 1998)
Words which best describe me: listener, studious, reader, thinker
I love it when... Things go well at work, so that I can get home on time, and spend the evening building with my son.
I hate it when... I have to stop building and re-organize the Lego. Cleaning up after myself is hard enough. Add a preschooler into the mix, and the task becomes immense!
I can't seem to get enough... 2 X 2 / 1 X 4 hinge bricks, and 4 X 8 Classic Space wing plates.
I always seem to have enough... 1 X 1 round trans-neon yellow plates. (I'm glad that my son likes them so much!)
I hope I always... Maintain a lack of self-consciousness about enjoying "kid's stuff."
In my craziest moments... [censored] :^)
