Pete Smith ("Pete")
Favorite LEGO toys/themes: I use, amongst others, "record and play" models for teambuilding. Team members work together then compete against the models built by other teams.
My fascination with LEGO began... when I realized LEGO can be used to get adults to interact with each other in an equal(non-hierarchical, non-gender, non-racial, and every other "non-" you can think of) way
I once built... a team out of individuals using LEGO.
Someday I will build... a successful teambuilding company focussed on LEGO
LEGO is great because... it is a tool to get adults to interact in a team without the task itself becoming the hero. In other words, the behavioural interaction is what is important, not that people be experts in being able to complete the tasks.
LEGO fans are great because... they haven't lost their Humanity to Technology.
My favorite Non-LEGO Toys: the TV
My favorite Hobbies & Interests: sport and reading
My favorite Foods: chocolate
My favorite Movies & TV: commedy
My favorite Music: Beatles
My favorite Pets & Animals: Chipper, my recently deceased Staffie
Words which best describe me: I'll leave that to others
I love it when... I hear a delegate say after a LEGO teambuilding workshop "That was the most fun I've had in years".
I hate it when... I carry a briefcase rather than a box of LEGO to work.
I can't seem to get enough... LEGO model 4095
I always seem to have enough... advice from my mother-in-law
I hope I always... look forward to going to work
I wish I could... have realised the teambuilding potential of LEGO earlier in my life
I could never... go back to the corporate world
I hope I never... have to wear a collar and tie again
I wish I hadn't... grown up with Meccano instead of LEGO
In my craziest moments... I like to be myself
Believe it or not... living in South Africa is great
If I were super-human... I'd still try my best to be Human
More & Less: - more happiness, less depression
Rules I try to live by: - No one is better than anyone else
- You get one shot at life. Make it wothwhile.
- Respect others
Additional comments:
Living in South Africa one realises the extent to which LEGO lets us be who we were meant to be
