Mark Assi ("Opie")
Favorite LEGO toys/themes: are the Egyptian Adventurers and Star Wars. They RULE!
My fascination with LEGO began... in elementary school, then took a break and restarted after I graduated collage.
I once built... a Lego space ship about 4 feet long, 3 feet high, and about 3 feet wide. It was cool for a first time building something so big!
Someday I will build... what I call, "The Train Around The World." My son Noah is only 6 months old, but I hope to have him working on it along side of me some day. It will be a classice train that goes around a big track and on the way it will pass a medieval Grand Canyon, like at Disneyland, a miniature replica of ancient Egypt, warlord Asia, the Wild West, and other great themes.
LEGO is great because... when your finished with one toy, you can take it apart and build a new one.
LEGO fans are great because... through ebay and Brickbay, I have found them to be honest and caring people. At times they have even been self-sacrificing in order to build friendly relationships. It's not always about me, me, me.
My favorite Non-LEGO Toys: I'm too old to play with anything else.
My favorite Hobbies & Interests: I like to read, but most of all, I like to write philosophical science fiction.
My favorite Foods: My favorite food is fried chicken and mashed potatoes.
My favorite Movies & TV: My favorite TV show is Star Gate SG1 and my favorite movies are Brave Heart and Star Wars.
My favorite Artists: dunno.
My favorite Music: My favorite music is the 80's stuff.
My favorite Pets & Animals: I have a cat named Opie.
Words which best describe me: Two words that I guess describe me are logical, yet creative.
I love it when... I am building with Lego's while watching Star Wars in the middle of a long vacation from work and my wife is occupied with her hobbies at the same time.
I hate it when... I don't have the time to build with Lego's and I'm to busy to watch Star Wars, which would all be no fun anyway since I would have to go to work the next morning.
I can't seem to get enough... Lego's or time to build with them, but most of all, I can't get enough of my boy.
I always seem to have enough... busy work to annoy me.
I hope I always... have time for my boy.
I wish I could... build Lego stuff with my boy now, but I have at least 5 to 7 more years to wait till he's old enough.
I could never... place an order on ebay or Brickbay, and then just leave someone hanging and never email them about the order.
I hope I never... run into another person who wins an ebay auction from me or buys something from my Brickbay store, and then never contacts me or pays.
I wish I hadn't... To be honest, I can't think of any regrets right now. I love my wife and my boy with no regrets.
In my craziest moments... I dance around the room with pure joy singing 80's songs.
Believe it or not... I've spent 6 weeks on a cultural exchange program in India and because I lived like the India people, I used my left hand the way it was intended to be used...if you know what I mean...he...he...he.
If I were super-human... I would feel safe in the knowledge that I could protect my boy from any bad guys.
More & Less: - more I would love to see more of my boy., less I would love to see less of my office.
- more I would like to see more people behave more like Lego fans behave., less I would like to see less "ME" orientation in peoples behavior.
- more I would like to see more days in a weekend., less I would like to see less days in a work week.
Rules I try to live by: - Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
- But don't let people simply walk all over you.
- Keep the faith and LOVE your family more than Lego's.
Additional comments:
I just want to say thanks to all the cool Lego fans I have met along the way, so THANKS Gerry, Brett, Roxanne, Todd, Hsiao, Terry, and all you other cool people. In my eyes, you have exemplified excellence in the way you deal with your customers and how you handle your Lego shops.
God Bless All,
Mark (BB/ID: Opie)
