Allan McBain ("expatscot")
Favorite LEGO toys/themes: I'm not big on any particular theme. My boys are 6 and 3 (2002) and I'm really just getting them into LEGO proper now. I suppose if I was forced to nominate I'd say UFOs and Aquanauts
My fascination with LEGO began... Before I can remember
I once built... A DUPLO tower that touched the roof and stayed up long enough for my son to run and get his mum - major excitement!
Someday I will build... Something that doesn't get "improved" within 30 seconds of completion
LEGO is great because... Of the infinite flexibility and the way that it promotes both creativity and spacial awareness
LEGO fans are great because... They sell stuff through eBay
My favorite Non-LEGO Toys: PC strategy games
My favorite Hobbies & Interests: Genealogy
My favorite Foods: Anything I make myself, especially Raspberry Parfait and Baked Alaska
My favorite Movies & TV: The West Wing, Comedy stuff
My favorite Artists: Turner
My favorite Music: Eclectic
My favorite Pets & Animals: I've got lots of slugs and ants in my garden and they seem happy there...
Words which best describe me: Not so much outside the box as can't remember when he last saw it!
I love it when... My sons run to me when I come in from work
I hate it when... My ideas aren't appreciated because people won't take the time to understand
I can't seem to get enough... Ice Cream (Oh, and money)
I always seem to have enough... Fat
I hope I always... Have the love of my wife and kids
I wish I could... Do enough to earn an obituary in The Times
I could never... Murder
I hope I never... see my kids die
I wish I hadn't... written that above
In my craziest moments... I fill in answers to questions like these
Believe it or not... this lot is the truth
If I were super-human... I'd have to get new underpants
More & Less: - more Questioning of what we do and why, less Religion
- more Appreciation of science and scientists, less Toadying to The Arts
- more Opportunities, less Poverty
Rules I try to live by: - Always ask why
- Look for the proof
- Be helpful
Additional comments:
Anyone looking at my set list will notice that I have a large range from the early 1970s. This is due to Rob, our neighbour, donating his entire collection to my boys (suitcase, attic, no kids - you get the picture). I'd just like to take this opportunity to thank him for his generosity in a forum where the readers will comprehend the magnitude of what he has done.
