The Big Five and Gareth
|
|
Gareth
| | This wise mage is so old, that no one alive can even remember when or how he got his powers. He had been taking care of the country for hundreds and hundreds of years, although he rarely used his majick. The last time he publicly used it was during the great earthquake, about 50 years before the calling; in other words, approximately 75 years before the present. He warned King Polon, Marcks grandfather, ahead of time and saved many lives by supplying food and shelter after the shock.
Gareth had almost complete knowledge in five of the Six Majick Fields: Water, Spirit, Nature, Fire and Mind. His knowledge of the sixth field, whose purpose is unknown to most, was greater than anyone alive at the time. No human yet has figured all secrets of all six fields; but Gareth certainly came as far ahead in the research as anyone in the history of the Lion Kingdom. Gareth possessed all six Power Stones, that hold awesome forces if used correctly.
Gareth lived in a well-kept stone building that was known by all as Gareths Abode.
The kind, wise old man loved all five of his apprentices like his children during the four years of their training. Near the end of the four years, when Gareth was dying, he gave each of them their own Power Stone, and instructed them to bury him with the sixth stone.

Flynt
| | Fiery and humorous, Flynt came from the underground caverns of an extinct volcano. An adventurous young boy, he left his family at age 18 and heard about the calling in the eastern fringes of the Lion Kingdom.
Flynt was as spirited as the magma he was bred from, always bubbling with jokes, yet dangerously ferocious about matters of importance. He always said he had fallen in love with Daphne at first sight, and was extremely glad she caught me! They married before their training was over, and had two daughters within three years of their marriage.

|
With Daphnes death, and their oldest daughters soon afterwards, the fire in his eyes seemed to disappear, and the lava cooled and firmed.
He dedicated himself to his work as a mage in the Fire field, and to raising his youngest daughter.
Daphne
| | With laughter that rang like bells, and rang often, this young girl was also very attractive. She fell in love with Flynt for more than just his jokes, however. Good-natured, she loved nature and enjoyed life, and knew how to appreciate what is good and beautiful in it. Daph was always passionate about her passions, which were Flynt, the Nature field, her horse Tenar, and her two young girls, for which she wouldve given the world to assure their safety. Other than Flynt, she held a warm spot for her childhood friends, Emerald and Benjamin, and for her fellow female apprentice, Rose.

|
|
| | Daphne died before her oldest daughter was two, and her youngest barely a few months old. She left a void in the hearts of all who knew her.

Rose
| | Shy and quiet, Rose didnt befriend the boys in the group for quite a while. She mostly concentrated on her studies in the Spirit field for the first year or so. Rose became Daphnes friend following the month in which Rose was extremely sick, and Daphne took care of her. She amused the sick girl with her stories, and heard a few of Roses own.
| |
|
Later, Rose and Lumina became friends as well, although Rose would blush every time Daphne teased her about it.
They were engaged for three years, but broke their engagement following a big fight.
Rose retreated to solitude afterwards, for the remaider of her life. She kept in touch with Daphne until her death and became the godmother of her youngest daughter.

Lumina
| | Lou grew up as a servant in the Royal Court, in the castle by the sea. Young and ambitious, Lumina always felt there was more in him than a page-boy in the capital city, and he realized exactly what it was when he heard of Gareths calling.
Lou was intent on proving himself as a diligent student, but did not forget his social life. He liked Daphne a lot, and was considerably jealous of Flynt for quite a while. With time, however, he got over his crush, and later got engaged to Rose. Her calm composure and honest seriousness matched his determination: When Lumina set his mind on something, he could get it.

|
Doyle was Luminas best friend during the four years of training.
However, they lost touch after Gareths death, when Lou returned to work in the Royal Court - this time as Royal Mage.
Following a big fight, Lumina and Rose - each set in their ways and refusing to compromise - broke their engagement.

Doyle
| | The strong, silent type, Doyle knew Daphne before Gareths training. They both grew up in the same forest clan, although they never talked much; she was a few years older than him.
Doyle befriended Lumina almost right away; they used to study together and share their plans for the future. In his last year of training, Doyle became close to Gareth, what with Flynt and Daphne, and Lumina and Rose spending time as couples. When Gareth died, Doyle decided to take care of his abode, which had been standing for hundreds of years before.
