A story, and a new Trains website

As we near the release of LDD 2.0, I offer the following tale... Two weeks ago, I was visiting the Tyson's Corner LEGO Store. Although the store still sells 9V track and motors, they no longer carry 9V train sets, which number only a few these days (...) (18 years ago, 18-Mar-07, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad.ldd, FTX) !

  "UCS" LEGO Factory MOC: GP-38

I present my first venture into the world of 10-wide LEGO Factory train creations, a GP-38 locomotive in CSX-like colors. (URL) > A while back, there was some discussion about UCS train models, so I created this as a response. It can be used as a (...)   Hail to the Chief!

Seems that James Mathis and I were thinking along similar lines this past week. I, too, designed some streamliner cars of my own using the LEGO Factory parts palette, although I modeled mine on the "Metroliner" paint scheme rather than for the Super (...)   Re: Creating Models and Optimizing instructions using LDD and LDraw

(...) [...] (...) [...] (...) Adding to Paul's comment about sub assemblies... when building using LDD, I have noticed that it is difficult to build SNOT assemblies, especially when some of the bricks aren't directly attached to the SNOT brick. I (...) (18 years ago, 24-Dec-06, to lugnet.cad.ldd, lugnet.trains)

Re: Creating Models and Optimizing instructions using LDD and LDraw

(...) Hi Eric, I think this an important topic and I'm glad you brought it up. When I did my (URL) Purina boxcar> I designed it with LDraw/MLCAD and then converted to LDD as a last step. (Note, I also needed to tweak the ldraw.xml file to prevent a (...) (18 years ago, 23-Dec-06, to lugnet.cad.ldd, lugnet.trains, FTX)

Creating Models and Optimizing instructions using LDD and LDraw

I have added an article over in the LDD Database area of Save 9v Trains of my thoughts about using LDraw (MLCad) to optimize instructions for LDD. (URL) I used this caboose as my test subject. (URL) This is a model that I designed and ordered via (...) (18 years ago, 23-Dec-06, to lugnet.cad.ldd, lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Comments about James Mathis' Factory Sets

Hello, Ville, Thank you very much for buying these three train models. (...) You have examined them more closely than I did to find faults with the design. To the Pullman Car, I made no changes. To the DB103 I made the suggested changes: - floor (...) (18 years ago, 12-Dec-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad.ldd)

Re: Comments about James Mathis' Factory Sets

(...) Hi Ville, Wow, thanks for sharing all of that great feedback on these Factory sets. That's a lot of useful information for anyone considering these sets. You even provided pictures of the mods you made! When I suggested you provide some (...) (18 years ago, 5-Dec-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad.ldd)

Comments about James Mathis' Factory Sets

(...) Hey, Sorry that it took this long to answer. Here is my personal opinion about Factory concept and three James Mathis’ sets I bought from Lego Factory. These comments are free to use and fill. First about Factory Set Concept ---...--- I think (...) (18 years ago, 4-Dec-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad.ldd)

  LDD Train Station MOC

Over the weekend, I designed a LEGO train station somewhat evocative of grand European stations using LEGO Digital Designer. The station has a rounded glass canopy and is large enough for a fairly tall (~12 bricks high) train to clear. The interior (...)
