What do the buttons on the remote do? From Marco Correia: ! The three numbered buttons marked send the a Message function. Pressing button 1 sends Message(1), button 2 sends Message(2), and button 3 sends Message(3). The A, B and C buttons provide remote access to the corresponding buttons on the RCX. The pair of buttons send forward or reverse commands to the RCX. The progam buttons, labeled P1 to P5, send a START PROGRAM(x) to the RCX, where (x) equals the respective program number 1 to 5. The STOP button stops the currently running program. The BEEP button sends a BEEP command to the RCX. This is useful to check the remote controls range, or to remotely scare your cat. From Steve Baker: ! It also works with the Scout - the A and B buttons drive the motors and the C buttons turn on the red LED. From Rob Doucette: ! The C button causes the Scout to send a VLL motor on command to the microscout. From Juergen Stuber: ! The remote sends a single command called RemoteCommand that includes a parameter with 16 bits, one for each button. The LEGO firmware is pre-programmed to intercept this as described above, but if you use a different OS you interpret it however you like. For example, you can detect multiple buttons pressed simultaneously. This is described in more detail, with all other IR commands, in the LASM Byte codes.pdf document in the RCX SDK. The SDK may be downloaded from LEGO here: http://mindstorms.lego.com/sdk2/default.asp Ed. note: Before you can read the LEGO documentation, youll need to download the Adobe Reader software. You can get it here: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html |
