{Corellian pirates have commandeered a transportation terminal near the Palace
of Kal-Rehal. They've destroyed two police speeder units while they repair
their damaged ship but it's possible that two of the officers are still alive.
A desperate Captain Uuher is cornered between two administration buildings
(his own functioning speeder just a stone's throw away) while the pirates
continue pouring blaster fire his way. As the smoke partially clears, Uuher
can indeed see that one of the downed officers is attempting to crawl from a
pile of debris. Airborne reinforcements are on the way but the pirates may be
gone by then and the wounded officer is obviously in need of immediate medical
attention.}
Review
------
I've liked the Flash Speeder since I first saw it, mainly because it was a
vehicle using lots of green parts and I find that green bricks are quickly
becoming my favorite. When the Flash Speeder hit the shelves I was impressed
that it wasn't too expensive and hurriedly picked one up. The lower price
means that buying more (something I don't often do) won't be too much of a
problem.
The set is simply the speeder and a figure. The vehicle has a two-seat cab
with thrusters located on either side and to the rear of the cab. Right
behind the seats is a covered storage compartment and on top of the hatch
that covers this bin is mounted a large, rotating blaster. Overall
construction of the craft is solid.
The single figure included in the set is actually a classic smiley! He comes
adorned with a brown police-hat, uniform and matching gloves. His only
accessory is the modernized pair of binoculars.
There are only 105 pieces here, but they are all put to good use. Unique
pieces include a large 6x8 U-shaped brick with sloping sides and front, and
green 1x1 tiles preprinted with circuits. The other more useful standard
pieces include lots of green pieces (a few plates and slopes) and lots of dark
grey reverse-slope bricks. These pieces also lend themselves well to an odd
frog-like vehicle pictured on the back page of the instructions. The only
moving parts in the bunch are the hatch pieces and a 2x2 turntable but this
is still a great set.
