Arbor 9

A. The Land

Arbor 9 is a planet full of one thing: plants. Mostly the entire planet is covered in thick, green, lush forests or large, open, flowery meadows. Every- so-often, visitors to the planet will see an above-ground village, but most people and cities are underground, to preserve the forests and other plants. A unique feature of this planet is how fast the trees grow. Arbor 9 trees grow at least forty feet every year. Citizens get their water from underground springs or pipes leading to large lakes above ground. The planet has no ocean at all, only rivers and lakes. People enjoy relaxing on the surface, but underground is not as relaxing.

The vast cities and large megalopolises of the planet all lay beneath the crust. 200 story skyscrapers rise as far as they can grow before they hit the crust. Modern homes dot the less densely populated areas, providing shelter for the people of this planet.

B. The Economy

The economy of Arbor 9 relies mostly on manufacturing. Huge industrial cities rest alongside the residential areas underground, producing consumer goods and minor machines.

Arbor 9 also provides many service industries, the best-known being education. Some of the smartest USC scientists, engineers, and scholars come from the great schools of the planet.

C. The People

The history of Arbor 9 is harsh and cruel. Under a tyranny, the population was tortured. Many civil wars raged against various groups, including some settlers from Italy, Earth, raiding towns. Forests burned and waters were polluted. In 2116, the USC invaded Arbor Sector, conquering each planet and getting rid of the horrid governments. The people of the planet were given a decision: become independent or become land of the USC. They chose to join the USC, and now the capitol is based here.

87% of the population is Earthen Terran. 3% is Shra’kare’c, and 10% is Jekish. The planet has many cities and towns in the underground caverns, and the people enjoy a high standard of living.
