Favorite LEGO toys/themes: Mindstorms, Technics, Star Wars, Pirates, Castle, Model Team, Sculpture, Harry Potter, Town, [quicker to list what I don't like - Bionicle, Slizer, Roborider]
My fascination with LEGO began... When I was sick in hospital aged about 4, I saw another kid in the ward with a Lego set and I demanded one from my parents. From there I developed a small Lego collection (mostly house building pieces with trees and flags). Then came nearly 30 years of Dark Ages. Then Mindstorms Robotic Invention System brought me back, and from there I discovered Technics and Star Wars. And it all just went from there ...
I once built... a cathedral
Someday I will build... my photocopier (well, finish it)
LEGO is great because... there is a lot of mental challenge in understanding the mechanics of building technics and robots, and because it's a load of fun
LEGO fans are great because... they are adults who still know how to have fun
My favorite Non-LEGO Toys: computer stragegy/simulation games like Age of Empires, Sim City
My favorite Hobbies & Interests: family history research, bridge (the card game)
My favorite Foods: barbequed moreton bay bugs (a local form of lobster)
My favorite Movies & TV: Star Wars, Star Trek, British & Australian police/crime dramas, West Wing
My favorite Music: 60-80s rock-n-roll, classical
My favorite Pets & Animals: two cats
Words which best describe me: talkative
I love it when... I assemble everything and it works
I hate it when... I search every polybag ten times before I find the piece I overlooked the previous nine times.
I can't seem to get enough... time to build
I always seem to have enough... of the pieces I don't need right now
I hope I always... have a Lego-tolerant spouse
I wish I could... set aside a much bigger area in the house for Lego
I could never... throw Lego away -- I'd always give it away if I didn't want it any more
I hope I never... have to give up Lego due to something like arthritis (say)
I wish I hadn't... lost all the Lego I had when I was a kid
In my craziest moments... I wonder if I could quit my job and somehow live off Lego as a hobby
Believe it or not... I'm female in my 40s and I love Technics
If I were super-human... I would install bike lanes on every major road
More & Less: - more riding bicycles, less driving polluting cars
- more taking time to smell the roses, less stress over modern living
- more having fun, less being middle-aged and serious and responsible
Rules I try to live by: - good health and good relationships with family and friends are the most important thing
- never let my happiness depends on the posession (or not) of inanimate objects (Lego included)
- don't waste trees and time by reading magazines about "celebrities" and their tawdry love lives
Additional comments:
I think that LUGnet is great.
