Digne

There is some discussion amongst the shipspotters of Port Brique whether the Digne is the smallest of the large ships which visit the French settlement, or the largest of the small ships.

Under the command of Capitaine Guillaume Bishop, the Digne plys the South Pacifique laden with trade goods. She frequents all the major ports, but Bishop of Digne now calls Port Brique home.

The Digne is an old style ship, broad and fairly slow, but has excellent cargo capacity and a reputation for reliability.

Afterword The Digne was scrapped in March 1805. Some of its components, including its hull, went to equip the new chasse-maree Cosette.

The digne is armed only with a pair 8 pound cannon, which the crew can move around the ship as required.
Bishop of Digne is well known for his philanthropy. He is a good friend of the Mayor of Port Brique, and gave Monsiuer Madaliene a pair of silver candlesticks when he first arrived in Port Brique.

The Digne was built of spare parts... she is on a wide hull, with a home brewed centre section. The bowsprit is a teepee pole and the after mast 1x1 rounds (strengthened by a flex tube).

Afterword

The Digne was scrapped in March 1805, and several of her components were re-used by the Port Brique shipbuilders in the construction of the new Cosette.
