His Majestys LEGO® Cutter, Delusion
The second of the Brikkish ships to arrive in Port Brique, His Majestys Cutter, Delusion, certainly created a level of anxiety.

| | The captain (using that word in the loosest possible sense) was none other than the fabled Lord Sir Midshipman Alex P Hornriker.
Hornriker sailed into Port Brique harbour at night, intent apparently on sneaking up on the Misérable and doing something to it. Probably painting Frogs go home or something similar on its side. His popgun swivel guns would have done little more than scratch the paintwork.
| |
| | Lieutenant Commander Reginald Stalwart-Hope of the HMS Intractable, came to the aid of both the Brikkish and the French by intercepting the Delusion and ordering it to one of the anchorages in the harbour.
Miles Ponsonby (The Brikkish ambassador) invited the young midshipman to meet the Mayor and senior French Officers. Hornriker, anxious not to show aid or comfort to the enemy, kept his fingers crossed whenever he shook hands with a Frenchman.
| |
| | The Delusion remains at anchor in Port Brique, awaiting a new set of sails, with Hornriker constantly drilling his crew, convinced that war will come. And that when it does, that hes going to make a difference. The Delusion is one of the smaller vessels present in Port Brique, but - particularly for a Brikkish ship - is handy under sail. Shes never going to run down the Misérable, but upwind she has an impressive turn of speed.
The deck is set below the hull pieces, giving the Delusion less freeboard than
the larger vessels, but is entirely adequate for a cutter such as this, as is the
tiller steering.
