Im on record as being not much of a fan of schooner rigs, but there
have been several examples of nice schooners on .pirates (Kurt Batys
recent Remember the Legamo springs to mind). And, well, even in 1805, time
does march on.
The old Montreuil, lying idle in Port Brique harbour and looking
seriously outdated, was set upon by shipwrights eager to try their
hand at a large fore-and-aft rigged vessel, and promptly
cut her back to the waterline. They then rebuilt the old brigantine into the
fourteen gun schooner, Bleusorcière, resplendent in blue and grey paint (a la Stephen
Rowes Scimitar).
The SNOT bow is a direct steal from my rebuilt Reprendre, and the after
section is my attempt at getting a properly schoonery look.
Fourteen guns, combined with the handiness of a schooner, mean that the
Bleusorcière seriously rivals the corvette Reprendre as the premier privateer
operating from Port Brique.
