Following an invitation from the Andrastavians, it was decided that the French would follow the lead of the Governer of Port Block and send a diplomatique expedition to the land of Andrastavia.

Andrastavia is certainly distant from Port Brique, both in time and space. Capitaine Legeaux, thought that he could sail there, given the time, but that there were potentially faster ways.

A new resident of Port Brique, Leonard of Billund (former Employee of the Patrician of Brick-Morpork), was invited to install one of his more esoteric inventions aboard the brig Mdm Thenardier.

It was determined that Capitaine Legeaux would lead the expedition. And thus, accompanied by the Mayor, Lieutenant Claude Bombard, Leonard, Leonard’s Igor, a small squad of French Marines, and a ships company set sail... well, not so much “set sail” as “set lightning rod”.

The Mdm Thenardier dissappeared from Port Brique in a flash of greenish purple light, appearing in Brahnsturt Harbour in Andrastavia only moments later (or perhaps hundreds of years before).

Although the crew of the Mdm Thenardier are used to the impressive sea wall of Port Brique, nothing could prepare them for the immense size of the city of Brahnsturt. The castle towers over the harbour.

Claude Bombarde, a young and enthusiastic naval officer was able to do nothing but mumble “Magnifique” for several minutes. The Mayor was seen looking enviously at the town hall. Jacques Legeaux, ever the practical one, was busy extinguising the flames on the Igor, who’d made a rapid descent from the mainmasthead just after the lightning had struck.

The Mdm Thenardier had unloaded her cannon prior to the trip (Jacques Legeaux had been worried about the use of large quantities of gunpowder aboard a ship powered by lightning), so couldn’t fire a salute as her Port Blockian equivalent had. The crew made to with an enthusiastic wave instead.

Although Port Brique prides itself on it’s markets, The markets of Bransturt were an amazing site.

It seems some business is transacted in the darker alleys, too.

But even in a city as busy as Brahnsturt, there are moments of quiet, and patches of greenery.
Religious contemplation can be undertaken at the large central church.

The squad of marines assessed the army attached to the castle. Though the Andrastavians were numerous, the Frenchmen could take heart that the level of Andrestavian technology was lower than theirs. Mind you, as Capitaine Legeaux pointed out, if you are killed by an arrow, you’re just as dead as if you were killed by a musket ball.

The representatives of Port Brique were safe inside the walls of Brahnsturt. Who knew what horrors lurked beyound the solid walls of the city? Leonard dismissed tales of the edge of the world and large dragons as pure myth... Jacques Legeaux - a man who’d seen a lot of things in his life - wasn’t so sure.

The Capitaine and the Mayor, along with a mysterious medieval type with a suspiciously modern camera (who seemed to have arrived aboard the Mdm Thenardier when Leonard’s device was activated) ascended the highest tower of the castle, to take in the magnificence that is (and soon was) the city of Brahnsturt.!

And after that rapid tour of the city, the French left Andrastavia with the next stroke of Lightning...

Return to Port Brique, or take the opportunity to visit Andrastavia yourself.
