BRICKSMEET™ 20003

The 3rd 4th or 5th (depending on how one counts) Australian national LEGO® event will be held at the Hornsby Inn on the 8th of June 2003. Official start time is around noon, access for setup is available from 10am.

Hornsby Inn Burdett St (Cnr Hunter Street) Hornsby NSW

The Event

BRICKSMEET 2003 is a gathering of Australian LEGO fans. All LEGO fans are welcome to attend, though those under eighteen should be accompanied by responsible adults.

Activities include:
  • An exhibition of MOCS

  • The Extreme Australia building competition (see this post for

  • The Time Limited Creative Build Competition (see this post as well for details). Build your creation on the spot, to a common theme.

  • Brikwars! (Yes, this post again)

  • A gathering (possibly the largest ever in Australia?) of sig-figs and mini-me’s. Bring your representative sig-fig, or send him or her along, or send instructions for your sig-fig/minime and have someone else do the construction.

  • Run some LEGO trains. Details to be confirmed, but likely to be 9V and 4.5V (at least).

  • Meeting other AFOLs (that’s Australian Fans Of Lego, in this case!). See who’s coming here. Find out if they live up to their LUGNET persona’s!

  • Trading - find that piece or set you need. Post your wanted list to .loc.au before the event. Wanted lists so far are here.

Pre-Event Dinner

A pre-BRICKSMEET dinner will be held at an undecided, but central, location on Saturday June 7. Stay watching .loc.au for details.

Supporting Events

A number of interstate AFOLs will be in Sydney on Saturday and Monday of the long weekend. We hope to be able to get together for some LEGO shopping and sightseeing. Details to be decided once numbers and levels of interest are confirmed.

The Venue

We will have the function room from 10am - 6pm. Meals and drinks are available from the Inn.

The Inn is also adjacent to Westfield Hornsby which has GB’s, DJ’s, KMart & Target for your LEGO shopping pleasure. The Inn is a short walk from Hornsby train station, and interstate buses (at least from the north) stop at Hornsby Station as well.

The function room has direct access from the carpark (via a short flight of steps), and a number of spaces will be roped off for our use.

There is no charge for room hire, however courtesy dictates that we should purchase most, if not all, of our food and drink needs from the Inn.

There are several nearby accomodation options.
