The End of the World
or
Its grey, folks, but not as we know it.
On Tuesday November 18, 2003, the end of the world was announced. Jake McKee confirmed some
rumours that the Lego company had changed its colour palette.
As you would expect, blind panic set it amongst the on-line LEGO community.
This page sets out to record some of the more bizarre, hysterical and downright ludicrous comments made by Lego fans.
Also, check out this history of the Lego companys disregard for its core fans.
And this post by Calum Tsang of rtlToronto, sums it up nicely.
But this post, by Matt Chiles, brought a tear to my eye:
And to those who would rather we get over the color issue... get over the fact
that it is not something a lot of us are going to get over easily, or maybe even
ever. It cut deep and it hurt.
You obviously dont really understand the issue and the deep wounds it has
caused a lot of us. Some things take a long time to heal, and I for one am not
sure I will ever be buying new legos again. Ive lost so much respect for the
company that what they are now just legos - not some brand.
