Scanning the room with a smile which grows as her gaze falls on a wizard garbed in red, sitting near the wall...

...Approaching him slowly, calling out, “Daddy?”...

...Listening for a response, which doesn’t fail to come: “Baby, there you are!”...

...Sitting down across from him... noticing his actions as he calls the innkeeper and asks for the “special soup”... looking at him adoringly, listening to what he did today... ‘I want to be just like him one day...’

...Frowning slightly as a few soldiers call his name... “I’ll be back in a jiffy... I love you, girl...”

...“I love you, dad...”

...Sipping the soup, looking around the room... a few soldiers, many peasants, a magician, a few slaves - all common sights here...

...Daydreaming about the beach... how great it’ll be to--

-- Returning to reality, interrupted by a loud noise... looking up, a table lain on its side... smelling blood... rushing forward, feeling a pain in her hand as a soldier stops her...

...Screaming as she sees...

...“Daddy?... DAD! Noooooooooo!!”

She woke up with a start... she realized she’d been screaming. She tried to catch her breath, her mind was racing.

Amazing grace...

She remembered that day well... all too well. The murder... the funeral... the tears that refused to come out, instead remained deep inside... the loneliness...

How sweet the sound...

There was something different about this time, though... she couldn’t quite put her finger on it... something that wasn’t present that day... what was it?

That saved a wretch like me....

She didn’t know... she tried to focus, but her mind became blurry... the details of the dream got confused with the earlier ones... was something really different this time?...

I was once lost,

But it had been a while since she last dreamed of it; four years, almost... after she settled down here... maybe she was mistaken. It really was the same...

But now am found...

Her eyes heavy...

Was blind,

Her breath relaxed...

But now...

She lapsed back into sleep...

I see...
