Wow, Dennis!

It’s a fairly simple model, but it really captures the mood. I especially like your windswept pine trees with the snow on the branches. Great touch!

Two lovers from rival samurai clans meet in secret on a cold winter day.

My first genuine non-space and mecha creation. I was inspired to try my hand at building a snow scene after seeing the snowscaping in KeithLUG’s Omicron Weekend, and this was the result. Originally this was supposed to include two samurai warriors meeting for a duel, but the whole thing ended up looking so peaceful and serene that I switched the model’s theme to that of Love!

Thanks for looking. :)

The never ending conflict of Ninjas and Pirates knows no bounds! It has even broken through into the list of BrickWorld contests. It’s my pleasure to announce the

BRICKWORLD NINJAS Vs PIRATES VIGNETTE CONTEST

I imagine that most LUGNET readers are familiar with the vignette concept, but just in case you’re not, you can view the LUGNET Vignette newsgroup (which has a nice list of vignette galleries) or the many vignette galleries on Brickshelf.

Basic guidelines for the contest:

• Use only LEGO brand pieces
• You can enter more than 1 vignette, but you can only win 1 prize
• 10X10 stud size limit on width and length, There is no height limit
• No carnage limit
• You and your MOC have to be present at BrickWorld to be entered

A panel of judges will decide the winners.

Please keep in mind that this is not a Ninjas OR Pirates contest. Each vignette must have something representing both Ninjas and Pirates and their enmity towards each other.

There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. To enter the contest, bring your entry to BrickWorld and tag it with your name.

Good luck to everyone!

Having now already been highlighted on http://vignettebricks.blogspot.com/ and http://www.brothers-brick.com/ (thanks!), I thought I’d try to get around to posting my first vignette; and first lugnet posting.

A Torii gate marks the entrance to a spiritual place. Hundreds of these structures can be found across Japan near Shinto sites and Buddhist temples. This vignette was made in response to a build challenge in my local club in the Ottawa, ON area (http://www.parlugment.org).

Enjoy.

Here we go again in Portland! Just over 2 months till Brickfest PDX 2007!!

Frank Filz, Brendan Mauro, and I are coordinating the Castle display along with other Historical (Pirate, Adventurers, Wild West, etc.). We’ve got plenty of room in Convention Center so we’d like to make this display bigger than the one we had at NWBC. The combined Castle display at NWBC was a huge success using CCC, Base8, and unique creations. If you’re planning on attending and depending on the theme please e-mail us, reply here, or join in the discussion over at Classic-Castle and let us know if you’re interested or not in participating in a combined display. Also please let us know what you’re planning on bringing so we can get a general idea of how much area we’re going to request. Based on the response we’re getting over at Classic-Castle this is going to be a very large combined display.

We’d like to plan for a fun time to be had by all so send us your ideas for events you’d like to see happen. We’ll have Show ‘n Tell, Castle Community Roundtable, and most likely a Landscaping discussion. Please let us know what else you’d like to do. If you’d like to do a particular session or contest just let us know and we’ll help make it happen.

We’ll most likely start a separate email list for planning the actual display so to keep the final presentation a bigger surprise. We’ve got to keep those Train guys guessing!

We’ve got plenty of time for planning and building so start brainstorming those ideas for creating one of the most exciting Castle displays ever!!!
