Wow, Dennis!
Its a fairly simple model, but it really captures the mood. I especially like
your windswept pine trees with the snow on the branches. Great touch!

Two lovers from rival samurai clans meet in secret on a cold winter day.
My first genuine non-space and mecha creation. I was inspired to try my hand at
building a snow scene after seeing the snowscaping in KeithLUGs Omicron
Weekend, and this was the result. Originally this was supposed to include two
samurai warriors meeting for a duel, but the whole thing ended up looking so
peaceful and serene that I switched the models theme to that of Love!
Thanks for looking. :)

The never ending conflict of Ninjas and Pirates knows no bounds! It has even
broken through into the list of BrickWorld
contests. Its my pleasure to announce the BRICKWORLD NINJAS Vs PIRATES
VIGNETTE CONTEST I imagine that most LUGNET readers are familiar with the
vignette concept, but just in case youre not, you can view the
LUGNET Vignette newsgroup (which has a
nice list of vignette
galleries) or the
many
vignette galleries on Brickshelf.
Basic guidelines for the contest:
Use only LEGO brand pieces You can enter more than 1 vignette, but you can
only win 1 prize 10X10 stud size limit on width and length, There is no
height limit No carnage limit You and your MOC have to be present at
BrickWorld to be entered A panel of judges will decide the winners.
Please keep in mind that this is not a Ninjas OR Pirates contest. Each
vignette must have something representing both Ninjas and Pirates and their
enmity towards each other.
There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. To enter the contest, bring
your entry to BrickWorld and tag it with your name.
Good luck to everyone!

Having now already been highlighted on http://vignettebricks.blogspot.com/ and
http://www.brothers-brick.com/ (thanks!), I thought Id try to get around to
posting my first vignette; and first lugnet posting.
A Torii gate marks the entrance to a spiritual place. Hundreds of these
structures can be found across Japan near Shinto sites and Buddhist temples.
This vignette was made in response to a build challenge in my local club in the
Ottawa, ON area (http://www.parlugment.org).
Enjoy.

Here we go again in Portland! Just over 2 months till Brickfest PDX 2007!!
Frank Filz, Brendan Mauro, and I are coordinating the Castle display along with
other Historical (Pirate, Adventurers, Wild West, etc.). Weve got plenty of
room in Convention Center so wed like to make this display bigger than the one
we had at NWBC. The combined Castle display at NWBC was a huge success using
CCC, Base8, and unique creations. If youre planning on attending and depending
on the theme please e-mail us, reply here, or join in the discussion over at
Classic-Castle and
let us know if youre interested or not in participating in a combined display.
Also please let us know what youre planning on bringing so we can get a general
idea of how much area were going to request. Based on the response were
getting over at Classic-Castle this is going to be a very large combined
display.
Wed like to plan for a fun time to be had by all so send us your ideas for
events youd like to see happen. Well have Show n Tell, Castle Community
Roundtable, and most likely a Landscaping discussion. Please let us know what
else youd like to do. If youd like to do a particular session or contest just
let us know and well help make it happen.
Well most likely start a separate email list for planning the actual display so
to keep the final presentation a bigger surprise. Weve got to keep those
Train guys guessing!
Weve got plenty of time for planning and building so start brainstorming those
ideas for creating one of the most exciting Castle displays ever!!!

I'm posting on behalf of Jon Rasmussen, the Other Historical Coordinator
for NWBrickCon 2005, who currently doesn't have access to the Internet[1].
If you'd like to bring a MOC featuring anything from the past that isn't
Castle[2], let us know!
We want your Pirates, ancient Romans and Greeks, Ninjas, Adventurers,
Vikings, and most of all Wild Westerners. If you've got MOCs from eras in
history of which I haven't even thought, we want them.
Just drop me a note (tws <at> morfydd.net) with [Other Historical] in the
subject line saying roughly how much space you'll need and I can relay
that information to Jon. That way, at setup time on October 7th you can
go straight to Jon and he'll have table space ready for you.
Please send your space requirements (especially for large MOCs) by October
1 so we know how many tables to apportion to Other Historical. If you
don't tell us ahead of time, your gladiators might have to end up herding
cows on Jon's Wild West layout.
If you have yet to sign up for NWBrickCon 2005, head on over to

A while back, I happened across some real cheap basketball fig packs. I got to
thinking about the springy legs, and what other possible uses they could have.
Well, that night, I was playing the game Soul Calibur II. For those of you who
have not played it, it is a great fighting game which also features some of the
most... well-programmed gravitational physics, let us call it. Due to this, the
one character that will usually stick out in every mind (ok, every male mind) is
Taki the ninja.
Taki stands tall at 13.5 inches, and has 28 points of articulation (arms, legs,
neck, waist), or 30 if you count... the gravitational physics. She has a red
veil on because this is what she wore in Soul Calibur I (and I didnt have the
piece in tan ;) ).

Submitted for your entertainment, a futuristic city that hasnt lost touch with
its distant past.
Guest Starring:
- A Starsky & Hutch / Sleeping Beautys coffin - styled aircar by Daniel Rubin.
- A snotty cherry blossom tree by (The) Bruce Lowell design studios.
- Quark Hover bikes by erstwhile Coppertone model Nick Kappatos.
Sadly, MOCPages is still down, so I am unable to subject you to questionable
captions. As always your smack, non sequiturs, kudos and crazy rhetoric is
appreciated.

I hope I didnt miss the deadline for the Space Wheels contest (I sent the
e-mail a little over 20 minutes ago).
Anyways, I dont remember where I saw it, but the wheel design was actually
inspired by an image showing how the 8x8 radar dishes can be snapped onto the
six-spoked motorcycle wheels used for the
Tantive IV and RIS. It doesnt quite work with the other similarly sized
three-spoked wheel, but
as long as you can keep them snugged up to the sides, the result still looks
pretty cool. Im planning to display it this weekend with MichLUG at the Novi
Toy & Hobby Expo, along with about nine other Sam-Bot MOCs, a few of which I
have yet to post.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to leave me some feedback on the
Stronghold, I really apreciate it. Much like Nathan Wells, Lenny, and others, I
think crossover building in .Space and .Castle makes both themes stronger.
Thanks again, and keep the great mocs coming.

Sorry for the late reply.
WOW!
Keith this has to be one of the best dioramas youve ever done. I just love all
of it. As usual, the huge scale of your work is complemented by excellent
attention to the detail. Awesome.
One thing that bothers me though...
Where are the freakin concubines?
Dude, have you even seen Akira Kurosawas Ran (1985)? The concubines are
supposed to through themselves in front of their lord (to protect him till the
very end) and get shot... Or better yet, commit suicide by sword or knife.
I just cant believe you missed such a golden opportunity to include something
as macabre as that. Tsk tsk.

Yay! Your idiotic captions makes adoring your creations all that much more
enjoyable! Its just amazingly great! I love the landscaping of the desert, and
the mountain work. Nice work with the doors as roofs, I never woulda though up
something like that. Great work as usualy, Keith, although I must say, your
models seem to keep getting bigger and bigger. Thats proving to be quite a
problem, youre making some of us feel inferior, allow me to take some of it of
your hands ;).

Aw, man. This is gorgeous. I echo the kudos for the floor of corrugated
bricks; simple design, brilliant execution! Its the kind of detail (like so
many) that looks so good youre left wondering why nobody ever did it before. I
love the mix of building styles, the sunken passages (very Iron Reichy), and
that elevated walkway.
Mmmm. Yum.

Wow Keith, thats simply amazing! All the detail crammed into it looks superb.
The 1x2 grill bricks as flooring is a great idea and very well executed. I
dont know if Ive ever see a MOC of that size with no studs on the floor, so
kudos on that as well. Also, I can tell you from experience that it is very
hard to hid the burps when making rock formations, but you have done a great job
of making them look natural.
Overall fantastic job!
